Keep Austin Beautiful
Do you suppose the Mikey Moore-wannabes who plastered "Happy Oildependence Day" bumper stickers all over the pedestrian/bikeway on the 1st Street Bridge considered for a moment that the only people getting their thoughtful message were either walking or on bikes? Most of them have been at least partially scraped off, so the visual pollution remains even after the message is gone.
Otherwise it was a beautiful morning and nice ride -- students are gone, lots of downtown workers took the week off, and weather is near perfect. Took a dip in the creek below Barton Springs Pool to cool off and I spotted a greenback heron
catch a fingerling as big as its head. What a sight watching him try to flip it around and swallow it.
On balance I'd say Austin Ambiance 1, Visual Pollution Moorons 0.
