Big Bend Open Road Race
Ft. Stockton to Sanderson at speeds up to 200 mph (legally).
The April, 2005 issue of Texas Highways has a multi-page pictorial spread on the annual Lone Star event for every Smoky and the Bandit wannabe except here it's all legal. Porsches and Panterras, Vettes and Vipers, Saleen S7 or "ordinary musclecars" all compete on the 60 mile stretch of US 285 (April 20-23) and a reverse course -- Sanderson to Ft. Stockton (October 5-8).
